Harriet Wilkins

Consultant

I have over 20 years of experience of successfully leading change programmes in a variety of disciplines including information technology, business improvement, community engagement and emergency planning.  I have worked in the public, charity and private sectors to embed change that affects several thousands of staff in large organisations.

My working life started in a technical environment but I’m very much a people person and I enjoy being able to bridge the gap between technology and those impacted by the business change.  My experience of consultancy and contract work has enabled me to deliver pragmatic solutions at pace to suit the needs of the business.

I’m PRINCE2, MSP and ITIL qualified and have set up small businesses and social enterprises.

Recently I have worked as a director of my own company delivering a programme in two prisons providing a horticulture qualification alongside practical horticulture experience.

I have worked for Avon Wildlife Trust as Interim Director of Community Programmes, managing a community engagement team across the region.  Whilst in the post, my team won a Green Apple Award for a school education programme but I am most proud of my work reinvigorating a very unhappy group of people and creating a focussed, happy and cohesive team.

As a Programme Manager at the Environment Agency I delivered a programme across business functions to improve the Environment Agency’s response before during and after a major incident.  My programme delivered 25+ projects annually, with budgets ranging from £150k to £4.5 million, covering areas such as major IT delivery, public facing awareness campaigns, business change, coastal erosion mapping, flood mapping, training and introduction of new technology.  We delivered several award winning projects, including the first Environment Agency project to win a Real IT Award and a winner in the Water Industry Achievement Awards 2012.

Prior to this I worked for Avon and Somerset Constabulary and the Home Office delivering IT and business change projects, including the implementation of a system to deliver 24-hour non-emergency crime recording and the development of a national disaster management application.

I’m passionate about delivering change in the business world, but only where that change delivers genuine benefits for the user.  An organisation is only as good as the people within it and I’m very focussed on making sure that people are happy and fulfilled in their work and can develop to their full potential.
