We are pleased to announce that Perform Green recently gained Living Wage Employer accreditation from the Living Wage Foundation. It’s another way for us to make sure that we live and work by our company values. Perform Green join more than 3500 other accredited businesses from across the UK.

You can learn more about what it means to be a Living Wage Employer on the Foundation’s website. Here is their press release about Perform Green becoming an accredited employer.

The Living Wage Foundation is pleased to announce that Perform Green, has today accredited as a Living Wage Employer.

Their Living Wage commitment will see everyone working at or with Perform Green, regardless of whether they are direct employees or third-party contracted staff; receive a real Living Wage: currently a minimum hourly wage of £8.75 in the UK or £10.20 in London. Both rates are significantly higher than the statutory minimum for over 25s of £7.50 per hour introduced in April 2017. We will raise these as the Real Living Wage rises.

The real Living Wage is an hourly rate set independently and updated annually. The Living Wage is calculated according to the real costs of living.

Barney Smith, Founder and Chair of Perform Green, said, “We are a values based organisation, the people who work for and on behalf of Perform Green are absolutely vital to what we do. This accreditation is a way for us to ensuring us that we fulfill our values, in particular to our current and future team and support the important principles that drive the real living wage.

At Perform Green, we work on projects that deliver meaningful change, not just to individuals and organisations, but to communities and societies as a whole. That’s what the living wage is all about too, and we are delighted to have become an accredited Living Wage Employer.

Employers choose to pay the real Living Wage on a voluntary basis. The Living Wage enjoys cross-party political support.

Katherine Chapman, Director, Living Wage Foundation said: “We welcome Perform Green to the Living Wage movement as an accredited employer. Responsible businesses across the UK are voluntarily signing up to pay the real Living Wage now. The real Living Wage rate is annually calculated to reflect the real costs of living.

We are a movement of over 3700 UK employers who together want to go further than the government minimum to make sure all their staff earn enough to live on. We have lots of small businesses as well as big household names like; IKEA, Aviva, Chelsea and Everton Football Clubs and many more.

These businesses recognise that the Living Wage accreditation is the mark of a responsible employer and they, like Perform Green join us, because they too believe that a hard day’s work deserves a fair day’s pay.
