Last month, we wrote about Perform Green passing the initial stages of gaining Certified B Corporation® accreditation. We are absolutely delighted to announce that we have now become a Certified B Corporation®. It’s a significant milestone in our journey as a company.

B Corp is to business what Fair Trade certification is to coffee or LEED certification is to green building. Today, there is a growing community of more than 1,000 Certified B Corporations® from 33 countries and over 60 industries working together toward 1 unifying goal: to redefine success in business.

What Certified B Corporation® status means for Perform Green?

Perform Green is a values-led company. From the outset, we had clear objectives and strongly believe in our mission to create change for the better. That means using our expertise to build relationships and leave a positive legacy on the places, organisations and people we work with.

Achieving Certified B Corporation® status is recognition of our effort to tackle big societal challenges with integrity and transparency. Its reward for the work we’ve done to improve people’s lives and transform communities. And we believe that this is just the start.

Clare Hewitt is our Chief Operating Officer: “Achieving this status is a real milestone in the organisational development of Perform Green, but the hard work doesn’t stop here. As an organisation, we are absolutely committed to creating exceptionally high standards for the way Perform Green and its people operate in order to continue to generate a positive impact for our stakeholders and the communities in which we work.

For Perform Green, having B Corp™ status sends an important message to all the organisations that we work. It assures them that we will provide a great service and have a sustainable impact on the people in their communities.

Joining the B Corp community

To become a B Corp, we’ve had to go through a rigorous process. B Lab®, the non-profit behind the B Corp™ initiative, carefully examine any company that wants to become a B Corp™, which is why it’s such an important stamp of approval.

Every Certified B Corporation® must meet exceptional standards of social and environmental performance, accountability and transparency. Perform Green is now part of a community of more than 1000 certified B Corps, which includes the likes of Kickstarter, Hootsuite and Patagonia.

This quote from the B Corp™ site is something we are proud to be part of and exactly what we believe in at Perform Green: “Government and the nonprofit sector are necessary but insufficient to address society’s greatest challenges. Business, the most powerful man-made force on the planet, must create value for society, not just shareholders. Systemic challenges require systemic solutions and the B Corp movement offers a concrete, market-based and scalable solution.

You can learn more about becoming a B Corp™ on the B Lab® website. They also provide details on the process that companies must go through to achieve full certification.
