When 2 worlds collide…
Perform Green are partners in the DCMS inspired 5G Connected Automated Logistics testbed at Nissan Sunderland that will investigate how it would be possible to take remote control (teleoperation) of an autonomous Electric HGV in case of systems failure or any safety concerns. Obviously the ultra low latency, massive throughput of data, security and reliability of transmission inherent in 5G are critical success factors to the project.
In addition, and in another First for the UK 5G CAL is providing 5G Connectivity within the adjacent ‘Driving the Electric Revolution’ facility at SASMI Sunderland. DER is building a reconfigurable and flexible manufacturing assembly line focused on power electronics where the technology will be connected via 5G cutting the ‘wires’ on the production line enhancing performance and flexibility. The team at DER are looking for organisations who want to explore how 5G can transform their manufacturing capabilities to advance the electric revolution in the UK and beyond.
