Catriona has forged a career advising private and public sector organisations on their commercialisation and market strategies. She spent 6 years at 3i Private Equity working with management teams to help them prepare for investment and also sale. This involved assessing their business plan and operational effectiveness to ensure that structures and processes were robust and financial projections were realistic and achievable.
More recently Catriona spent 8 years as a Director at KPMG implementing commercial approaches with a vast cross section of public sector organisations. She is passionate about applying corporate learning to the public sector to help drive through efficiencies and equip management teams and staff with commercial acumen that looks beyond a single service provision or organisation.
Catriona has worked with regions to help local authorities, health providers and commissioners, educational establishment, housing associations and the third sector to consider a whole system approach as opposed to isolated delivery models. She has also advised on the set up of a local authority energy company, income stream generation, mergers, target operating models and back office efficiency.
The key to success in all projects is the understanding of organisational and personal drivers so Catriona takes time to connect with management and staff. She has an open and engaging communication style and can get to the root of an issue quickly, even if people are reluctant to acknowledge it exists!
In her spare time Catriona is an avid traveller and likes nothing more than exploring far flung lands with the locals. She recently spent time teaching English at a village school in Myanmar, which was much more daunting than facing the Board of a FTSE 100 company!
